Zinc for sale!

You might be tempted to believe that the existence of “market prices” proves that objective value exists.

For example...

According to businessinsider.com, today’s market price for a metric ton of zinc is $2,820.85.

But would YOU PERSONALLY pay $2,820.85 for a metric ton of zinc?

Of course not.

Why?

Because you don’t want a metric ton of zinc sitting in your garage.

Therefore, it’s worth nothing to you.

Are you wrong about what zinc is worth?

Or is the market price wrong?

Neither.

Value is not a property of a thing.

It’s a subjective perception that exists in the human mind.

And if this is true for a physical commodity like zinc, just imagine how much truer it is for something intangible like, oh I dunno... services.

Yours,

—J
